Patricia R. Young, O.D.

Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Patricia grew up in Wiesbaden, Germany, where her parents worked for the U.S. Government. She moved to Texas to attend her mother’s alma matter, Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1994. She began her career in Houston while searching for the ideal location for private practice.

She moved to Bridgeport in 1995 and founded Bridgeport Eye Center. She was awarded “Best Optometrist” in Wise County by the readers of the Wise County Messenger. She has served as president of the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, with the Bridgeport Civic Club, with the Butterfield Stage Days Committee and Rodeo Committee, with the Texas Optometric Association and with the American Optometric Association. She participates in Vision USA and PreventBlindness USA. She has specialized training in the diagnosis, treatment and management of glaucoma and ocular disease. She is a recipient of the Gold Key Optometric Award.

Outside of her practice she enjoys gardening, travel and reading. She participates in the Susan G. Komen 3Day breast cancer walk.

Emily K. Smith, O.D.

Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Emily Smith was born and raised in Decatur where she graduated from Decatur High School in 2001. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University in 2005 before attending the University of Houston, College of Optometry. She graduated from Optometry school with honors in 2010 and practiced in Lubbock and Stephenville before heading back to Decatur. She lives there now with her husband, Jonathan, and six children.

Dr. Smith is excited to join Bridgeport Eye Center to provide quality, compassionate eye care to the community she grew up in. Dr. Smith is a Glaucoma Certified, Therapeutic Optometrist and has experience treating a wide range of ocular diseases and vision disorders, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract and LASIK co-management, strabismus, and amblyopia. She enjoys helping patients of all ages, from infant to the elderly, obtain their best vision and maintain healthy, comfortable eyes for life.
